2009 "Be Money Wi$e" Poster Contest Winners
In an ongoing effort to raise awareness of the importance of financial literacy at an early age, Springboard offered area students an opportunity to participate in a nationwide poster contest. The theme of the fourth annual “Be Money Wi$e” youth poster contest was “Smart Money Choices = a Brighter Future.” The annual contest offers an excellent opportunity to work with and educate teachers, students and parents on the importance of wise money management. For students, it is a wonderful opportunity to express their creativity along with their knowledge and understanding of money matters. Each year, Springboard’s panel of judges selects one winner from each of the three grade-specific categories and one Chairman’s Award Winner. This year, Springboard received more than 100 entries from Riverside and San Bernardino County students ranging from 3rd through 12th grade. Posters were judged on expression of theme, artwork, style, content and overall creativity. The winning entries will go on to be judged at the national level. Each winner received a trophy, certificate and $100 savings bond from Springboard. Congratulations to this year’s contest winners: 5th-grade student Zicely Cerna, of Desert Trails elementary, 8th-grade student Gabriella Arana of University Heights Middle School 9th-grade student Kelsey Rhodes of San Jacinto Learning Academy, and 11th-grade student Daniel Lujan of Arroyo Valley High School was the recipient of this year’s Chairman’s Award.![]() |
